Monstera

Is this Thai constellation healthy?

Just received it in the mail. One of the leaves has turned browned and shriveled up. It was a rooted cutting.

  1. the pot is too big,you should repot it in a smaller pot and cut of any root rot if theres any

Pot’s WAY too big. This should be in a 2-4” pot maximum. If it came as a rooted cutting, I’d put it in plain water for a couple weeks to let it acclimate and recover from shipment before potting.

A large pot out you at risk for root issues. You’ll want to definitely downsize this to a 2-4” pot at the most.
As the plants roots outgrows the pot, upgrade, only about an inch or two at a time.

Well, that’s a lot you can imagine:

    – the pot is too big, put it in a small one ☝️
    – the brown spots are probably because of too less humidity
    – also I would recommend pitting it in a half shadowed place so it can recover a bit

I had a monstera this size and i bought it in 5cmx4cm pot lol. Why is it in such a big pot?

Way too big of a pot. Should be put in a tiny pot

Great job getting it started on a moss pole early so you don’t have to wrangle it later on, but yes, that pot size needs downsized dramatically

Currently it’s fine but that pot is wayyyy too big and will start to give you watering/root issues

Thanks everyone. I definitely plan to downsize the pot. I used this pot because I liked how it looked, wanted something heavy enough to hold the moss pole and thought the terra cotta would dry fast enough. The size of the pot is 8in wide x 4in tall. I have a smaller 3 inch terra cotta I can switch it to.
