  1. I gotta give African violets a try!! They just always look so so sad when I see them in stores, which I just have a Lowe’s by me. Maybe a rescue is in order!

  2. My clearance violets are smack in a south window in full sun and do have a grow light from the succulents nearby. I also dump water in pan they sit in and never empty because I always forget. And get to stress my husband out because they are tough buggers for me and tolerate a lot of abuse

  3. Love your tablescape idea for Easter. Shucks. You will need to buy more Violets.🤔Also, adorable bunnies,🐇 and little chicks🐥🐤 and pastel eggs🥚 and ……💮 💚💜🤣😂😉😍🤗😝Go for it!!!🤑

  4. African violets always make me remember my late Mom. She always grew tons and put them on the window sills. Would propagate and give away tons too.❤

  5. Thanks for this. My Mom is now in Long Term Care and we are trying to make her room as homey as possible. She grew beautiful violets in her home so we are going to take her out to get some African Violets and new pots for her room. Thanks for the inspiration.❤

  6. Good Morning! 💜 I love African Violets! My Grandmothers grew African Violets! Therefore, I have several Violets, great memories! 🥰💜🌱💜🌿

  7. What a wonderful memories with these plants my mom always had them in our front window of our living room she had maybe 12 plants in total

  8. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

  9. Love the colours of these! I gave away all my African Violets when I moved a few years ago, but this is making me want to get another one – propagating them is so much fun!

  10. Oh Laura, you’re bringing back memories of my Nana. She loved African violets, as do I. I always kill them. 😢

  11. Oh,Laura this video is just what I've wanted! Each one so different with their personalities😂 The purple one I got after my Mom died I put into one of the special pots my Aunt made and somehow after 20? years it blooms. But I put fertilizer in almost every time😲 and another gifted pathetic Violet developed the ugliest leaf curl, never bloomed since I didn't know to dump excess water. So I'm going to start over, get some pots and am inspired so much by your encouraging advice. No more daily plant food forcryingoutloud! Thanks

  12. They are beautiful! I definitely need to add an African Violet plants to the collection of plants in my apartment. What wattage grow light bulb should be used for African Violets!

  13. I have only five violets at present, space is an issue. I never pot them in terra cotta (unless glazed) because I've have many bottom leaves die off from the course texture of the pots. For me, the plants are very temperamental about their pots. Side note: my grandma used sheep droppings soaked in water for plant food and she was such a successful violet mom🥰

  14. Beautiful violets. You may find that the clay pots are a bit harder to control an even moisture level. I find that violets have shallow roots and don’t like to dry out or be waterlogged. Bottom watering and Keeping a bit of water in the saucers when they are in larger pots might actually be helpful.

  15. I followed your last video on propagating African Violets and now I have 4 beautiful little plants. Thank you for such wonderful instructional videos.

  16. I love African Violets. I will propagate when a leaf breaks off and yes it is amazing. Mine have done well with regular potting soil too!

  17. ❤ my mom grew African violets. She taught me about the No water on the leaves. She used to take out new center leave with the point of a pencil. Not sure if that’s right but It always seemed to encourage new blooms.
I had no idea I could make new ones from the leaves! ❤ thanks for that tip.

  18. Every time Laura plants something the day her video goes out, the garden centers are full of customers trying to find the same thing. 😂 I love it! 😻

  19. 🌸Good day Laura and Friends. I am so thankful for this demo on violets! My grandmother always had one on the chest in the living room, and was always giving me a cutting, but I always killed it!! Now in my apartment, I’ve learned thru the ages how to keep them, collect them, and love them just like my Grandma wanted! I’m in an apartment so they are perfect for me. If one dies, I propagate or buy another. Enjoy a beautiful day everyone, 💜🌞

  21. I have always had the best luck with African violet pots (the pot in a pot) and fertilize with a liquid fertilizer in the water – bottom pot. I have almost continuous flowering. I could never keep my violets watered enough in terracotta. They sure do bring a bright spot to my kitchen window in the dead of winter!

  22. So pretty! That ruffle-y one! African violets….plants I continue to buy, but always die! Lol!

  23. My great-grandmother had glass shelves lined with African violets mounted in front of her dining room windows. Absolutely stunning display. She passed away in 1974, and my mind can still picture her beautiful flowers. Thank you bringing to mind a precious memory from my early years.
