Desert Cold Plunges | Return to My Native Habitat

Traveling south to the desert on this Utah road trip means I’ve traveled back to warm sun and cold plunge weather – my native habitat. Join me for some trails to sandstone arches, desert plants/plant identification, cold plunging in waterfalls, and many lizard moments on hot rocks. Learning about the ecosystem as we’re road tripping, hiking, swimming, biking and exploring local trailheads, parks, bike paths and swim spots/swimming holes.

Being a nomad naturalist enables me to reconnect with nature in a whole new way. I hope to inspire this inner peace and happiness in others through a closer relationship with mama nature, through healthy eating, outdoor recreation, edible food gardening/farming, and sustainable living. Youtube has enabled me to better educate and inspire from the road.

A reunion with the Colorado River brings many sensations of Home throughout miles and miles of sandstone corridors it carries familiarity nothing makes me feel at home like warm air and red rock streaked with iron emerging through a prolonged season of autumn I had traveled far enough South to suddenly

Find myself back amidst warm weather and wild flowers into a landscape of enduring summer despite finding home in many mountains and forests I can’t deny the desert as my native habitat born from an environment of scarce rain and Relentless sunshine I deeply cherish a Desert Oasis a riparian area to thrive

Alongside waterborne plant communities there’s something about red rocks and rambling Creek that speaks to my very being my inner child with this cold plunge I was reborn back into my desert rap persona H I feel like this is just a Wonderland for Desert fairies there are dragon flies buzzing around so many wild flowers I feel like I was transported back in the seasons so like the lizard that I am I went searching for sun the most Divine pairing with cold water Native only to this region I discovered the sacred datura a very toxic Hall luetic plant the leaves are safely consumed only by its pollinator the Sphinx Moth who turns these night blooming flowers into spiked fruits natives used its deliriant properties as a right of passage a spiritual challenge

To strengthen self that is if self wasn’t lost entirely to the poison its unpredictable potency makes safe dosage fickle and deadly o she thick gosh the freaking aedra in Utah are just Thick that tan [Applause] Though beautiful little Heron buddy to share my meal with he’s so cute oh you can barely see him but he’s cute D so I saw Haron hunting in the river which is one of my favorite birds so I decided to stop here to make some food

And watch him do his thing and of course a family shows up and dad is leading by example and the whole family begins to throw rocks at the herin and I’m just mean mug and I’m trying to make them realize that maybe what they’re doing is horrible and they proceed to throw rocks

Until the Heron is scared away from its vital eating place and then make gorilla noises at me and leave welcome to America an experience of a place can change drastically from four wheels to two from sunshine to Rainbows Riding through the canyon offered more intimate opportunities to admire the cliffs carved by the mighty Colorado River over centuries and when the Desert Sun cracks apart stormy skies most stunning sunsets are born and when the sun inevitably returns you best believe I’m back on the hunt for a new place to cold Plunge I found some Maiden hair friends these cuties grow in so many sacred places in the desert near water I followed a trail of water-loving plants eventually finding my favorite medicine for Body Mind and Spirit this is the radiant joy and Bliss that a cold plunge always induces combined with a sunshine supplement of vitamin D I swear this practice is my anti-depressant take nature therapy to a chemically beneficial level it’s why I follow the sun each season for more precious time with this practice

Complete in its therapeutic perfection in hours spent between pages and more space for mindfulness finding wholeness and days spent between sunshine and cold water although with how good it feels the ladder isn’t always Required When I lived in a city a good bike ride was my escape and it was one of many hard sacrifices I made to hit the road so if I ever get to borrow a bike you best believe I’ll soak it up and what better way than a tour of local Gardens

And Parks it’s a garden yes I love to see what grows in each place I visit and it was a warm welcome from many plants I hadn’t tended since I last gardened in the desert see eggplant and fall tomatoes from lofa to Flowers He It seems so strange but feels so right to enjoy Sunshine green canopies and Lush grass so far past Summer’s end while the desert can be hot and inhospitable most of the Year All Is Forgiven with a warmer winter becoming temperate and lovely while the rest of the world endures growing cold and

Darkness a good Park Hing does wonders for my mental health these pockets of nature keep me going in the city and if I’m lucky I get some serious dog watching in how are you doing are you all on your low some here hi you okay come here

Rejected be fair I was rejected for another dog hi ah you back it up bro no sir I missed you Colorado River she pry she nice oh she party oh my God it’s a double rainbow it’s a double rainbow

  1. Herons are one of my cherished birds too. Distressing about the stone throwers, to be blind to the beauty you so clearly see. Please keep bringing us these moments of nature & joy. I love that you insert the plant names. Another beautiful video. May you have a happy new year.

  2. Hi Kaylan. Hope all is well. I saw that you had an encounter with wild animals. I'm glad you are OK! I understand that it is very difficult to rationalize with wild animals, especially when Papa Wild is leading the pack.
Thank you for sharing your time, experiences, and sweetness.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy.

  3. Stop blowing my mind…you're kiiillllliiing me….

Can you share the link to the guitar piece at the first part of the video? It did not show up on Shazam.

  4. Welcome to America, where most everyone is walking around unconscious. You found some beautiful places to be you. Keep going, Happy new year.

  5. Very cool to see Datura growing wild ! You see I would have turned absolutely feral and started barking and throwing rocks at the family 😅

Or there might have just been some unmarked graves I would have interpreted their behavior as hostile triggering self defense 😂

  6. I am an introvert. I love nature a lot. This type of video gave me a lot of peace. It's refreshing for the soul and body.

  7. Its heaven on Earth. Your cinematography setting the stark red golden mountains by the contrasted green of nature's glory and fresh water streams, leaves us with hope in this world. Thank you.
    Happy New Year !!!! 🌹🌿🪴🏵♥
