Hey guys it’s March 12th wow it is still blushery here we had like epic wind over the past couple days it was like 50 mph sustained winds I thought I thought things were going to blow down I mean our fence was making noises like I I was

So nervous I couldn’t even sleep hearing every noise in the house it was craziness but anyway weather’s turning here a little bit today it is very very sunny you can see all of the bulbs from Costco are blooming I’m very excited it’s still a little chilly it’s a little Bree

But we are officially getting started so I thought I would um take you for a quick Garden Tour and just give you an idea of what’s going to like a recap of what it is that we’re planning on doing so that those of you who are new to the

Channel know what direction we’re taking our channel in um we want you to know that we are posting a lot of products right now now we’re not going into the direction of consumerism not by any means however as gardeners and project Builders we we buy supplies so what we’re doing right now

Since we are in a flurry of purchases we are just sharing that information with you so that it makes sense that in case you have questions there will be one central place for you to go to find what it is that we’re buying where we’re buying it from and whether or not we

Like it so I mean it might be random to you that we’re doing like bench reviews and trailers reviews and we’re assembling things but that’s what we’re doing and many of you are as well so we just thought we would share our experience and availabilities of things

To you so that uh it’ll be easier for you to get aners so right now I’m bringing you back to see what’s growing and we’re going to see what Farmer John is up to today and I’m going to tell you uh what other projects are underway here’s an example of what happened with

The wind it totally destroyed our berry Barn so our black berries are starting to sprout this thing just totally collapsed so we are going and this was a temporary structure that ended up holding up for a couple years but we’re going to frame it out with wood and properly nett it in

And build a door um over here I have some different varieties I think three varieties of red cabbage that actually survived winter ice snow um and they’re starting to head so there’s a mild amount of pest pressure but I think these red cabbages are actually going to

Produce something um you know that was much to my surprise this is our corn field which I normally have a big application of radishes going in and I’ll probably be doing that today uh over here as well as a few other areas and here is a

Lovely I thought this was a ruda think it’s a turn up look through snow and ice and freezing temperatures just incredible and then uh over here I have a bunch of beads so hopefully we’ll be getting some beats today as well well not today but soon so I mean they’re holding up really

Very nicely I just see this is what happens when you have a tension deficit out the window I I left all my food out on the counter I walked away from the middle of preparing that because I saw what was happening I thought let me go take a

Walk and bring my friends with me here so hey Farmer John how you doing hey guys what’s happening out here today what are you up to well we are finishing up these beds that we started um and just putting up what I guess would be a

Uh a soil block so that way the soil does not Escape if you take a look right behind you you’ll see that we have little Boulders um really don’t work to block the soil and keep your your uh gravel clean and you can see that there’s all kinds of different soil

Going into the it does leech out and whereas over here we use the um con blocks the smaller thinner concrete blocks you guys they were like a dollar something at Lowe’s and they do hold in the soil much better and it gives you the opportunity to fill these little

Cavities with soil so you can plant companion flowers in there like I always plant um Marigolds in there or basil or something and they stay separated from the beds but they do you can see how the soil wants to leech back because we are

In a Swale so we will be fixing most of these end caps now that we have extra scrap material and um Farmer John is has taken salvaged reclaimed pavers that were in a dumpster and we are using them as our ends now to Timbers that we have

Had for years now and we finally started these beds in the fall but with the weather we were abruptly halted in completing that now something I want to tell you about what the soil looks like this paper here is coffee filters and then we have eggs and there’s banana

Peels and we are direct composting as well as using our Miracle Grow composter so there’s stuff breaking down in that composter but now that we are direct composting until spring we’ll have a good amount of um natural materials going in breaking down and hopefully some of that will be ready for spring

But we will also um dig that down when we get our big delivery of soil which will be coming within the next few weeks so that’s the addition of those three Beds which will now be dedicated to Peppers eggplants and uh zucchini uh we are rebuilding this area over here this was

Never intended to be so messy it all just got away from us uh we will be covering these circles here which is where our eggplants and zucchinis were but everything would just go wild um we had water runoff problems we couldn’t navigate through which created a bug

Area so versing this area here you guys this is all neat and orderly and we’re able to keep it nice and everything has its place uh same thing here with our five roma tomato circles they were never intended to just be like out in the open

Like this you can see here’s one of the pitfalls of not having retaining walls around your beds because you lose your soil all the soil came out so we will be uh building probably little square beds around these so that the Roma tomatoes can stay in there and as it rains uh

This area does tend to fill up with water a little bit so it it causes problems for your Tomatoes as they’re sitting in water whereas over here in the concrete bed for the tomatoes we don’t have that problem so everything you know everything just kind of happened so abruptly for us you guys

Where it’s like 1 minute we were we had a little bed where we were growing spinach and then the next minute we were full on gardeners with almost 5,000 square ft of growing space so these are just some of the things that we’re working on out here today taking

Advantage of the nice weather I will be direct sewing some radish and daon seeds I’m hoping to get my spinach sewed as well I have a bunch of brasas doing really great in the greenhouse also I am soaking uh Del I’m soaking gumina and parsley and to sew I like to let that

Soak for 24 hours and I will be sewing that into cells tomorrow and I will also be sewing Delphinium and fennel and they like to germinate in the dark you guys so if you’re struggling with Delphinium try to find a dark spot to get those seeds going in the Pacific Giants um

They should do better for you getting uh germinated in a dark spot um so with all of this going on another little Endeavor I will be on will be to go around and try to collect all of my little plant labels from last year so I can make sure

They’re not becoming a wasteful thing in the garden um and then we have to get it together because it’s time you guys it’s time to get started wake up wakey wakey get yourself up get yourself motivated take a walk through your garden figure out what the wind blew down figure out

What weeds are already starting to come up look at areas that you’ve been dreaming of and what you’re going to plant in it I mean we have so much construction material out here um so much is not done so let me turn you around for a second and talk to you about

Something now our little raised patio project is not complete we had to finish it we we worked in this well into December while the weather permitted so our backyard is not intended to just to be a random space with unfinished products and projects and all of this um

PE gravel the PE gravel is down for silage it will be permanent walkways to some extent but this is all planning to be developed so you’ll want to stay with us we’re going to be doing a DIY Barbecue Pit over here with piece of granite for a little um raised work

Surface we will be planting beds all around this patio to soften it we might be building an arch over these little steps here with some path lights that will go up again all of this material in this bed here was claimed material minus the bench which we just built if you

Haven’t seen that we can attach a link for that as well as a product link um and we can attach a product link for these Obelisk that we put in uh as well from Amazon we’ll have a link for you I have sweet peas growing up there and all of

My uh hents and delphiniums are planted in here and they’re starting to make an appearance it’s so crazy when I think how last year this Garden here these beds turned into these beautiful butterfly gardens and everything was so Lush and I look at it now and it’s just

It’s emptiness and it it you know this this I’m so happy that we planted the crocuses in here because they uh just are giving me like the feeling of Hope and inspiration and motivation to get started out here they’re so pretty you know the first signs of spring they’re

Brightening everything up um I can’t wait to see the hent bloom now this guy here looks like it’s going to be some beautiful Rich shade of pink and I I forget the name um of the bag here but it uh of of highest since what they were

Called but they did indicate that they were like some kind of bright really bright color so I think they’re going to be shades of pink and blue in there and then we have lots of new flowers that we’re going to be sewing in here and look you guys these are my snapd dragons

So look they are supposed to be just um the tender perennial but they are truly winter hearty they they stayed green through the season something here just like threw a seed at me well I wonder what that was whatever it is it wants to be a flower now my Holly Hawks are

Already showing signs of some Rust so I might want to rip these out because rust is really very contagious in the garden so I don’t know if the Holly Hawks are going to live here but I’ll be sad because they’re the black the black ones

I also a few weeks ago direct sewed some Larks spur some bachelor button um what else some some Salia uh some poppies so there’s all kinds of stuff that’s going to be growing here not to mention that I had a nemone I had the leat in here these are

The C tulip bulbs from last year that we planted um that we had a Blooms from last year so I’m happy to see that they have made a return so now it’s almost time to reeal the greenhouse give her a cleanup try to ca any areas where the silicone may have

Shrunk and try to figure out where our weak spots are I was thinking I was considering maybe staining it but I don’t know if I feel like doing that I want to let it gray I think and I’m just going to water seal it and get this

Ready to go so that’s another project as well Anthony you were asking about some of our garden structures this is Lady Everly we bought her at uh one of our local Farm stands and I don’t know what vendor she’s from but she’s got a lot of details Anthony this is resin so and

She’s holding up really well but you can see she moves easy so I don’t just leave her hanging around out here in heavy wind now I think she was hundred some dollars because you were asking this is King no he is made from masellis and this guy here took two

People to lift he’s very heavy he’s not blowing down in the wind um we love this guy so we will be adding more Garden structures as well and this guy over here is by masellis he’s called we call him pen Dragon but uh he’s really I think considered a

Crouching a crouching gnome I don’t know check out master.com and uh you can see crouching gargoyle not gnome he was $169.99 so Master relli there’s the information for master rell’s you guys if you’re looking to add some Garden structures and you can call to your local places your big nurseries that s

St States and stuff and you can ask them how much their price would be to get something like this in stock for you we do shop from several different places this one we got at Flags no let see did the ticket hold up 329 for this guy I think I think he was

On sale when we bought him at the end of the year I’m trying to remember I think we got 20% off so if you look for something like this at the end of the season and when the garden nurseries are trying to clear their inventory you have

A better chance of getting a sale so that was just a quick update on this blustery day you guys I had to go in and finish my food but I wanted to say hi to you guys Farmer John wanted to say hi and we wanted to show you what we’re up

To so we didn’t want you to think that we just became a shopping channel because we’ve been posting items that we’re working with there are more items to come because we want to share with you what is making our lives easier so please stay tuned Please Subscribe if

  1. Your garden is so tidy and ready to go!
I did just read recently that the east coast has rust issues on hollyhocks. Wonder if a copper spray would help.
I need to get support back up for ours somehow as we removed the fence to join the flower sitting area with the garden. Here the Japanese beetles love the hollyhocks—then again what don’t they love. If we didn’t set up traps it would be miserable to walk outside there are so many. We catch several bags full. And they love roses😡.
It sounds like you and FJ will be quite busy. It will be a while before we can plant as it looks like we will need winter coats for a few days and who knows for April. Seems to take forever here and March is the longest drag of a month.

  2. I always get motivated after watching your videos. We are supposed to get snow early this next week and then I might start planting some hardy things. My Costco tulips are coming up too. Can't wait for those to bloom!

  3. I always love shopping season because I get to see different products and applications. Although with my ADHD, I skip off to other parts of the internet (because I get inspired!) and forget to finish videos! 😂.

You have a lot of projects lined up and I look forward to them all. The one thing I’m not looking forward to is the seasonably cold weather returning this week; I was enjoying our false spring and got about 2/3 of my spring cleanup done.

Oh, my juncos are still here. I left them a few of my aster flowers that go to seed so they have something to nibble on. I love listening to the neighborhood birds chirp and sign while I work outside. I’m sure you do too!

  4. I already got my gardens, cleaned up and ready to plant. I put peas in the ground. I planted several bulbs for summer. I have a garden for herbs, a garden for vegetables and a garden for flowers. I’ve mulched all my garden beds, as well as added new soil, and compost and new seeds for summer. I’m waiting to start planning my vegetables, my spring flowers have started popping my tulips, my daffodils. Some of my Nigella are coming up. I can’t wait until it gets just a little bit warmer and I can start putting vegetables seeds in the ground.
