Just an idea for other homesteaders/minimalists, and thus alike. If you live without trash service as I do, I separate all my trash into paper/plastic/metal/glass bins, and then from there store it in 50 gallon barrels.
The paper/cardboard I use a lot as firestarters. The rest I just take it to a recycling center but eventually I plan on recycling a lot of it myself. You can check out my other YouTube videos on RecycleThis for some ways I may do that.

Thank you for doing this!
We have also worked out systems so that our waste is very very minimal.
Living without garbage service has really helped me to not make as much garbage. I drive past neighbors with 2 people living in the home and 2 of those big cans stuffed to the brim once a week and am baffled how people can make so much garbage.

Isn’t this standard for every home to do, regardless if homestead or not?

One of the easiest things to reduce plastic is to switch all hand and body soap from liquid to bar/puck form. Shampoo and conditioner are also easily available in bar form. They come wrapped in wax paper or cardboard, not plastic bottles.

I have that exact same duster, speaking of total nonsequitors.

Do you end up taking metal in once and a while? If you don’t someone local would probably be glad to pick it up compared to you taking it somewhere for free.

It all ends up in a landfill, I believe. China stopped buying “bolk raw material”.

Do you compost yet?
That’s great. For more tips on effective recycling see the Joe Scott recent YouTube video on recycling. https://youtu.be/izn7-FrlmhI?feature=shared
