New setup, what would you do?

How would you go about setting this up mesh inside liner, just dump it all in? Any suggestions/links etc. are welcome.

I have 5 bags of chopped up leaves from the fall that have been sitting all winter and I have ~10L of coffee/espresso grounds from local coffee shop. I also have ~1/2 the white container of food waste per week.
I would like to stop adding food waste to my old setup (2nd photo) from 6 months ago, that’s why I’m setting up the new area. I will be adding another pallet bin beside this one. Pallets are HT.

Ideally I think Winstead of dumping all, layer it leaves, grass clippings(greens), leaves, repeat. I wouldn’t worry about mesh

  2. Looks like you got it figured out from the previous pile. Wouldnt bother with mesh on the pallets you wont need it. Just had at it 🤘

    A few tips for oxygen:

    – I’d get some smashed up sticks and dry twigs and form kind of a bed. Start kinda big and then get smaller, nothing larger than your forefinger.
    – Get a PVC pipe and drill a bunch of holes all down the sides. Set it in the middle pointing straight up.
    – Put any of the nitrogen rich (e.g. coffee grounds stuff on top. Don’t mix it in too much right at first, just let it fade into the material below it.

    Other stuff

    – Try your best to find someone locally doing the same thing. Get a bucket of their dirt and add it to your pile.
    – Buy one of those long thermometers and keep an eye on the temperature. If it does really well and then starts to fade, consider adding some water unless you live in a wet area.
    – Do your best to keep adding coffee grounds gradually over time.

    Fun stuff — good luck!

Was there an issue with your old set up? That looks like how I’m building my new (first) set up, so I hope worked well
