๐ŸŽน Music is from imovie and is called Newborn

So what’s it oh hero hero hero hero yeah this the N of Mr H home he specializes only in five needle Pine and his garden is laid out very much in the Japanese tradition even the start of the trees are very Japanese very tasteful not Chinese style at

All I’m going to do a video and then I’m going to do Stills look at the design of the garden absolutely stunning stunning stunning oh the stream goes right around his display Garden Very look at that wind swep style Pine I need another lifetime to make Gardens like this very much after my own heart look at the LTI bunin everywhere and this is a raft a raft Pine look at the raft every day it is getting better and Better oh so tasteful another raft another raft look at This good Graef oo look at the sensitivity of this Garden look at look at the detail old sleepers only Pines no Juniper at all just Pine oh gosh we don’t know where to turn where to look look at that the trunk is about 2T in diameter look at the texture of the stand St talk of being tidy my gosh that is tidiness for you oh this literarity are something to to behold semi Cascade Pine good

Grief this the only jiper in the whole nust stre oh I say die I Not All right yes okay and then this customers but they it didn’t survive really well so they bring it back for them to look after again this one yeah this big one sorry that one customer SP yeah how they can get in part that size can you K the tree can you save

It what we have to do get it out get out get it out the president her he is the creator of all those this trees you are see and he’s very very he Li he likes all that experiment so the owner of this Nursery what is his name again Mr I’ll I’ll get uh the translation allori collect trees I’ll ask a picture for your inform mention they are native species of five needle Pines from Taiwan Pine yes I know five needles yeah they’re not Japanese I know that not Japanese and Japanese five needle P they don’t survive in Chanese environment uh

President just told me so hot climate uh climate yeah look at that there are 5T diameter pts m my goodness Man so obviously they made a bed so they got to keep it damp and moist these trees these trees are grow in their ground for 30 40 years yes from he started to to the B Mr when he started to to B he planted the small trees in the ground uh till

Now so now HEI this the no yamadori they are all planted oh Look at the dead that so they got another piece of land to grow in the field grow all this and very big so Peter your trees are not too big you can dig them up and start to do like This uh but because he won a lot biggest priz people like this tree anything you cre is more like P ping isn’t it he he has to he has the one bag it have you seen like this never you’re not into B I went to something like um Japanese restaurant

Yeah now like you know especially GR in the field and developed look at the thing get back on itself full hooked back look at this leader to make the thing strong Peter you’ve seen in the front yeah there are Small Wow so artistic this man is so artistic yes from the material to a tree ready for SES takes about 5 years because he he knows how to yeah little babies see things y little babies yeah there you are see look this how they start yeah he look at that [Applause] stone so this how they start look seing wi and young very contorted bends What you think pet we’ve got like this I’ve got some like this at home yeah yeah yeah yeah w w [Applause] they love their big trees they love their big trees look at that look at that you got to stand next to the tree to appreciate the size look at this one these Twi and B are not yamadori they’re created from Young good sweet and look at the sort of

Soil they use grally soil yeah come on the this the sort of soil to use Gra Succulent Paradise That’s good dragon dragon he come on come on I have a for you withon yes 1 2 three yeah very real opportunity yeah you have light send to me okay I will I will you are my friend yeah yeah okay okay no I have to Have You want to try it what is iter fruit if you taste it eat a then after yeah but after you taste everything bitter it will become sweet oh eat banana will be super sweet they sell these succulents this is the bread and foreign yeah Lenton Berry I like this

One oh I know I love oh I got this in my front room right you know I’m the blink Coler whatever you give it to me you he doesn’t have enough uh needles to do the uh take moisture so this gives the moisture to the bunch not the moisture try to

Keep the B po so the B don’t burn to death does that make sense yes because of very hot here yes yes that’s why you see but me me me he’s only putting it over the Char and cuts so is it that he’s trying to cut down on what the B transpires out Yes the first year you will leave some big big roots to uh when you cut the root for yeah and that is the first year the second year they started to pick it up oh they leave it in the ground okay so Ro only here wow so very very

Shallow this this is a example this all soils third third or fifth uh is change the soil that is uh original soil when they did it up and now it changed the first year so three understand third or fifth but they having enough fine Route so he will have very fine roots and he’ll keep them all and fine Roots but the big Roots like this cut them all off just keep the fine Roots yeah that will be the from the first year the second year they start change the soil to the sand and then Yes about 3 years to renew all those uh soil from the original ground to the all the big Roots is all been cut off and fine Roots that’s all he want yes okay so the underneath is a flat so when it cut the ro ro yeah

No there’s no tap they just slice it from the bottom so the bottom is so flat and so easy to get into the p on display but then meanwhile there are fine Roots there yes there are fine root fine Roots yeah so much uh particulars is because of to for the bronch to

Grow so they are did I this has got uh very high stone and they’re going that way how does this uh the micro Li Riser and everything there’s nothing here for it to bite into is it or is it still going to it will colonize in that it

Colonizing that yeah yeah it’s um the micro Riser will be even if you bear route a p the micro Riser will be with the root system and it will reestablish itself the mic Riser and he said they just create their own even be root it will be

All all right and they try to take different uh species of V it’s so kind and they say they will contrast them they like one other question some of these trees are very big is it lifted with a big crane to come in the garden I don’t think you can live it

With the two three people so how do the only people whoy buy this obviously he sells these Trees biggest in Taiwan now that tree is obviously very nice if you were to sell it like this how much would it cost you here how much can you get the About 50,000 is that All it will if it if is a sell to Japan but this is the price for the Taiwanese uh internal Trading you SE the photo behind him where he said yeah that is a a pres H winning price tree 500 500,000 about 600,000 us that one yeah so that one is a such a top price does he field grow these somewhere else or does he buy these no this is fi grow

In his own land when put it in the and you have to make it and that will stop them growing so fast and the trunk will uh stay the same size how do you mean uh because don’t plant it up upright don’t plant it ight because of pine like grow

Yeah and to the to they grow the thicker the trunk is so if you want to stop it grow too thick you have to yeah that’s how you that’s why he end up with so put it on the side I have to do three times it up slide that way and then dig

It up and do it the other way and then turn it around three times and that’s a 30 years is going to show you his uh uh area the the where he feel grow all those trees we’re now going into his growing Fields look at the land look at the

Trees I’m in utter awe oh God he going to show you how he did this oh all the all the question you asked such a big tree is it is a big tree but how are there people who buy this this a pickle yeah you can see the

Trunk trunk yeah oh gosh what route can you get out of this Tre but only about 100 cm but then how can you get roots from that tree when he there won’t be any root there are roots in there inside so you can see here you can see the root yes that’s the

Root there feure look at that one There this one is the okay okay let’s follow this is a second uh stage already so it’s going to show you the first stage there’s a few lost look at the size I know that means lifting a tree from the forest yeah how they get the fine Roots

I just don’t understand no no the fine Roots will come because the growing condition is so great The Roots is growing damp and hot I it’s all so the tree was uh flat uh uh straight so he cut the roots from the yeah so now this is the first stage

I ask him how do you FL the bottom of the say they got to search a special tools to do it everybody like Chaw yeah yeah so and then this this is so after they tck up from there move it over to here so that second

And the thick ones like he said he’ll Lop off yeah and then just encourage these to keep I can’t imagine our trees having that I don’t think the Scots have got a root system like this you need several lifetimes to do this but they do it in one lifetime 30 years

Every 10 years he his uh turn them one side you can tell that’s how he create that way and now that way so this one need to do another third time yeah so that’s how you create all those twist because he had problem to get the

Materials as he like so he thought okay I’ll just buy some materials and then I make them to what I want so I can tell from here fature you can see that one it’s the straight one isn’t it yeah so now that one is ating planted a SL started

To wow planted a size that trunk doubl over on itself but that young they would have shaped it in a s shape yeah and I think they have to shape it look at that one with all the bamboo on unbelievable so they’re not collected they’re shaped when they’re young but

They grow at the rate of knots see that thick branch couldn’t be very old it’s probably no more than 8 10 years old that big Branch growing from the bottom fold it back bud buding back yeah so that tree was 20 years old he planted in there and then he found it

Twisted two two to three times already it will be about nearly 50 years old and look at all this was down there they planted at an angle grow new leader growing look Juniper oh he has Juniper oh he does have Juniper well that junipers won’t be his because

He doesn’t do junipers he does he love Pines Pine this yeah mushro oh wow and here mush oh I know Mike ask him you know these ships when they’re young do they shape them like that when when is young young shaped yeah it’s over 40 40 years oh only 40 years

Yeah but but unfortunately this this pass away this a biggest One look at the trunk it’s about 3 foot in diameter the trunk how much 3ot of the base more than they keeping it Dam Block you what is help it over that’s his technique he did do this early you always leave a stub and I ask him you know he put those uh W Tower over the trunk he say you have to keep them moisture because you cannot let the

Par diey out or that tree will die because they have to get it through the energies and moisture to the uh uh High higher higher higher brch to smoke to make me to create the footage yeah and so I asked him a question with the moisture the par will

Start to rod and he said it doesn’t matter you work on the park F you work on the bo when they are de now we we always told the yes you can work on them anytime but he said Pine you only work on the to make them look

So they that stuff that will be made into gin but they let it dry and then they cve they never cve when you didn’t no grafting here so all these young branches are buding back from the old wood buing back from old wood you don’t need to grab the under pine

See the growing medium it’s just gravel gravel with some Earth so he’s obviously won a lot of awards these all Awards of different prizes of show beautiful teeh house

  1. This is my favorite garden so far from Peter's trip! The small pines and the thin litetati pines are the most expressive to me. Thank you, Peter, for sharing this with al of us! <3

  2. So grateful to have seen all this!!! I would have never seen these beautiful trees if it wasnโ€™t for you. Thank you!!!

  3. A trip you will never forget Peter, neither will your subscribers, we have been on a journey along with you. Thank you Peter.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing this journey. I experienced pure excitement with every corner you turned in this garden.
Like a kid in a candy shop.

  5. ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ oh my gosh Peter what are you trying to give me a heart attack! Just looking at those marvelous trees must be so amazing in person. Once again you give me so much inspiration to become a better artist.

  6. So Peter, I have been watching all of your videos from Taiwan, my husband walked through the room a couple of times, then he remarked, "I have never heard that sound from Peter Chan before!"

  7. Love Peterโ€™s nice way of saying that stand is rotted and wonโ€™t support the bonsai on it โ€œ Look at the texture of the stand!โ€ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  8. Wow!! A whole different world of bonsai to me, and for only $600,000 one of them could be mine! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  9. I think you'd like the Lake Merrit Bonsai Museum in Oakland, California. Occasionally, you mention an interest in how the nature of North American pines differ from European and Asian pines and that museum only features bonsai and garden trees made from plants native to Northern California.

  10. Cricky Mr Peter Chann many thanks for sharing your trip to Taiwan. ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…Aussie Aussie Aussie GDAY MATE from brisbane Australia

  11. Good morning Peter,
    This nursery is so impressive.
The layout design of the garden, the point of interest is very well conceive and the sound of the waterfall gives you a sense of serenity as you feel the natural harmony of nature.

Thank you, Peter, for sharing this beautiful nursery.

    $500,000. โ€œWOW!โ€

Take care and have a blessed weekend.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

  12. Extraordinary! Not all to my taste to be honest, but certainly a horticultural triumph. This is trees as material for sculpture…

  13. Along with thanking Peter, people should also be grateful to Ming Moreland (the lady translating in the video and originally a Taiwanese native) and it is she and husband Mark that run U.K. Bonsai association and the Heathrow and Expo bonsai shows here in the U.K. and organised much of this trip. So many thanks to Ming and Mark and their contacts for Peter being able to bring us these videos.
