Homesteading

Progression of my land over 2 years :)

2 years ago I bought a river lot that was overgrown, full of trash, and came with a meth lab.

I’ve hauled dozens of truckloads of junk out, cleared acres of brush with an old 8N tractor and chainsaw, bought the neighboring property with an abandoned cabin that we’ve brought back to life, added a couple food plots, and had a WHOLE lot of fun in the process.

I recently bought a new subcompact tractor that has made life a lot easier and this summer we plan to relax. It’s been better for my mental health than anything I’ve ever done.

    Wow! Well done!

I am VERY jealous of your pond.

I noticed the fish getting bigger and the tractor getting better – nice work OP.

I would love to be next to a river like that – will it flood ?

I love seeing progress photos of my own homestead. We had similar experiences starting out.

This is amazing! Our property is still very much a work in progress, but hoping to do similar over the next two years. Unfortunately, no water on our property, but we’re not too far from plenty of rivers and streams.

What a rewarding life. My father is living similarly, he checks his phone once every week to check in. I envy you guys

That’s an ancient 8N tractor! Super jealous of the fish!

What were your initial expenses in the first year of setting up?

So you live in Heaven now? Great job, bet it was a lot of work.

I did the same… No better feeling than making your own place!

My cousins have that same Ford tractor on their 1,200 acre ranch south of Los Angeles…TX. They moved it when they sold their 400 acre ranch south of Uvalde, TX. It was moved to their Uvalde place when they sold their 30 acre Guadalupe River front place that was completely flooded in (2) 100+ year flood in the 1970’s and 1990’s.
