Once your basil has at least 2 sets of true leaves pinching the top branch of leaves can help it shoot out more branches from that area. This is also called topping your plant.
This process can be done with zinnias, snap dragons and many other flowers. As well as peppers and even pole beans!
To know if topping your basil is the right choice for your space, consider that this technique will force the basil plant to bush out each time you pinch to create more branches!
If you have a smaller space to grow basil, allow it to simply grow straight up to save space!
Tip: you can pinch every single secondary cluster of leaves to keep the party going!
