So I’m new to propping. I found this leaf a couple of months ago and it’s been growing into a beautiful succulent! The mother leaf finally dried up so I was going to water it and noticed the edges turning yellow on some of the baby leaves. Then I bumped it and it was not rooted in so I flipped it over and it barely has any roots. Is it going to live? Did I do something wrong? What do I need to do to help it? Also anyone know what it is? Thanks!

  1. Keep it in soil and maybe use a dripper to lightly moisten the soil. You can also try spraying it if your weather is hot enough for the water to evaporate fast/you have clean water. Roots should pop eventually. Ti’s the gamble friend

It should do great if you plant it! They are hearty!

  3. Yes it should be fine. I’ve seen this with my succulent stem props. It seems random and I don’t know if you can manipulate conditions to encourage either stem or root growth or both. Some of mine from the same plant, in the same conditions will grow only stems or only roots. In my experience, those without roots will begin rooting once it’s in soil and separated from the mother leaf. If it’s only roots they sometimes don’t seem to do much and eventually just dry up. Incidentally, the ones with no roots tend to give me a larger new succulent than do those with both roots and stem. Seems to me like the individual mother leaf/stem “decides” where to put her energy🤷‍♂️ Succulents are amazing plants😁
