Usually overwatering, but some clones just do that. I have a few species plants that I water like once a month because they crack if you get more than that.
Mine will do that when they plump up too much but it’s also 115+ deg. If you let it deflate/dehydrate a little more in between waterings it *might split less. As other poster said, there are some that are more prone to this.
