How can I do this to my house?

Hello everyone,

Pictured is the university of Manchesters ivy building. I would like my house to have this plant growing on the walls because I think it looks beautiful.

How long would something like this take to grow and how could I speed it up?
What are the potential maintenance issues?
I’d also like to know about perennial plants that I could design an archway for the door with that blooms every year? Thank you!

Looks like Virginia creeper which is less damaging to brick and pointing than ivy. Can still help squirrels into your attic, though.

I don’t know where you live country wise, but wisteria is nice on buildings you have to add something to hold it up. Ivy is not good as it sucks onto the brick.

It took me far too long to realise the black thing was just a sculpture in front of the building and not the front door burned

You could use Boston ivy. It sticks to brick and is easy to remove. Has positive benefits such as keeping the wall cooler in summer.
