Most plant care advice is written in a way that makes you believe that a healthy plant will never lose a leaf. I have a different approach: understand your conditions, do the best care you can, and remember the plant is trying its best too.

Some plants, like this Oxalis triangularis, have high leaf turnover. The rate of turnover varies based on environmental conditions (light, soil moisture/structure/nutrients, temperature). So I don’t worry about losing leaves – I accept them and I’m a much happier plant parent. This is my contribution to the Plants & Words theme for @urbanjungleblog this month.
