Vivarium

Driftwood

Just started my first vivarium (36x24x18) for my crested gecko 2 weeks ago, it's in it's growing stage but I've been trying to find a big centerpiece to add more cover and places for plants to grow on. I thought this piece I bought online was big enough…. I was sadly mistaken. Does anyone know where to buy big wood pieces or would I have better luck hunting around lakes?

Etsy manzanita wood sellers give you exact pieces as pictured. They will give you measurements as well

Instead of a centerpiece I’d focus on functionality for your gecko and recommend multiple horizontal resting spots and perches like branches and vines stretched across the tank. Especially if the gecko has a tail as lack of horizontal spots can lead to floppy tail syndrome. Pet stores have good bendable vines and Etsy has great wood selections usually customizable.

For the lack of foliage and to help add coverage in the top I recommend getting a mature schefflera, it’ll also double as climbing enrichment.
