Virginia creeper is an interesting vine. My understanding is that because it attaches with adhesive discs and not penetrating tendrils, it’s not damaging to masonry. I’m not sure if that applies to wood, but I suspect it would be ok. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenocissus_quinquefolia
