Conflicting info regarding slug eggs

I have discovered a cluster of small white eggs by my compost bin. I am conflicted as to whether to remove them or not and how best k do it. This board says one or two things – remove by hand cause they are relentless little savages OR leave them to flourish as they work wonders in a compost heap. I have a bit of a slug problem as they have munched my sunflowers, my fig tree leaves, my radishes and even some of my courgettes. My veggie growbags are placed on top of gravel as I thought it would prevent the slimy suckers from eating my crop but it appears that’s not a good enough deterrent.

What do?

I get a little bowl and dig a hole and pour beer in it and the slugs will go in there for some reason. I don’t know why they like the beer I guess or the yeast and I use diatomaceous earth. Also, I don’t worry too much about what’s in my compost. I’ve been composting for years. I don’t worry about what bugs are in there as long as my final product looks good. That’s all I care about.

  2. Slugs are fine in compost bad for garden beds. Finished compost rarely has slugs because they only like fresh material. I always move slugs from plants into compost and now rarely find slugs in my garden but have loads in the compost area
