Airplant

Soup Day! And a question.

I love working from home because I can soak these beauties while I work. Half an hour, then dry upside down.

I also have some curly slims, but I read online that the less you water them, the more they curl — and mine have pretty much lost their curl. Can anyone confirm what the interwebs says?

What a beautiful collection! Anecdotal and thus possible useless evidence incoming: I don’t have a Curly, but I do have a Caput that used to be extremely curly. Like, uncharacteristically curly even for a Caput. I remember that during her very first days with me I was constantly stressed out because I was reading everywhere that unruly curls = thirst; I totally believed that she was going to die soon. Now that I had her with me for almost a year, I can tell you that her hair has straightened for sure (and she is getting bigger, so…she’s alive and well!). I never ever soaked her, just misted thoroughly and frequently, for the record. Basing on this very weak evidence, I am inclined to say that yes, water does straighten airplants’ hair and thirst makes it curly. I wouldn’t personally recommend to keep any plant thirsty, even if airplants in general are fairly resistant to underwatering, but you should wait for a real expert to chime in, I’m barely out of the newbie stage and in any case I have zero experience with Curly Slims. Again, you have a truly wonderful collection and I wish you the very best with all your tillies!
