Central florida 10a, removed the “lawn” which was mostly just patchy grass by covering with cardboard and mulching with shredded cypress mulch. Took me about one month to prepare and mulch during my freetime mostly on the weekends. And another month to plant, mostly low water need, full sun tolerant plants like bromeliads, agaves, and cactus. I planted the mango, avocado and mulberry trees 2-4 years ago but weren’t thriving, but now have exploded with new growth. Was concerned neighbors would think I’m crazy, but everyone who’s walked by has said how much they like it. No HOA.
