How to tackle my jungle backyard?

My backyard has recently become wildly overgrown with thorny vines, pokeweed, burrs etc. What’s the best way to start and salvage this yard?

I’m hesitant to use chemicals/weedkiller but also it’s a lot to do by hand. I’m also renting so just trying to maintain to a decent level. Located in Central Virginia
