Plants completely disappear in one night

Yesterday we had a rain storm and then this morning two of my cucumber plants are missing. We have a good fence so it’s not deer. Wondering if this happens to anyone else before and if they know what it could be. Good thing I have backups but I’m very curious . Live in Georgia zone 8a

Oh also, I haven’t had this happen to my garden before even before we built the fence but they see it’s happened to three of my plants so far. Completely gone.

Now you can set some traps and add some protein to the menu

    Probably rabbits or a gopher.
I really love your fence by the way! It reminds me of like a whimsical little goblin garden in the woods.

I’d check for a breech in the fence. Something got through it. Did you bury the fence to prevent diggers too?

You forgot to plant them, memory issues?

  6. Don’t count out the birds. They like to flip sod or pluck small plants and dig for worms or grubs.

I had the same thing happen and I believe the culprit is pill bugs. They took out all my marigolds. Never seen this many pill bugs in my garden before.

This is how I found out I had more squirrels than I thought

Clear the mulch from around your seedlings. Cut the bottom off a pop bottle and remove the cap. Place it over the seedlings at night, burying the edge under the soil. This will usually keep bugs or mice or birds from getting your seedlings.

  10. Squirrels used to dig up my seedlings pretty regularly, literally watched them do it and eat the whole dang thing from the root up. I got a rubber snake and put it in a new place every day when I went to check on them, and it gave the seedlings enough time to get big enough to avoid becoming squirrel food.
