Asian WISTERIA Invasive Threat to Native Ecosystems!

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn more about invasive vines in this video: https://youtu.be/AuVANWB9Y74 ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Some of the worst invasive plant species in eastern North America are vines such as English ivy, wintercreeper, and Asian bittersweet. Invasive vines are problematic in a way that differs from woody and herbaceous invasive plants โ€“ the vines can climb. This allows invasive vines to not only impact native plant growth at ground level, but the vines can also overwhelm and kill large trees. Most have explosive growth rates and can cover a wide swath in a short period of time making control of them a top priority. There are many species of invasive vines in North America – this video covers a dozen that are widespread and are adapted to a variety of conditions. Be on the look out for them and stop them as quickly as possible!

Wisteria Wisteria florabunda the Asian

fragrant purple flowers unfortunately
the Asian Wisteria Escape cultivation

there is a native species of Wisteria

  1. The strongly disagree that the native species is an excellent alternative. I have grown Wisteria frutescens var. macrostachya and it is easily the most aggressive species of any kind that I have ever seen.

  2. We have the Chinese one in our yard. It suckers everywhere. Pretty sure I even saw it over the road recently. Gorgeous tree though.
