This is my first time planting a Dahlia. I planted it a week ago and the flower heads have been falling off. What would be the biggest reason for this? I have been watering each day. A few hours of sunlight in the morning and afternoon. The lows have been around 55° and highs around 78° in the past week.

The ground looks too wet but also an animal has been absolutely decimating this plant – rabbit or deer maybe? The flowers are collateral damage.
