  1. Anyhow, I started this cheap aerogarden clone as more of a learning intro to hydroponics and plant biology in general. I started this set up per instructions of the kit, planted seeds, etc. Look now I am horrible with plants, total noob. I went in blind expecting to be making mistakes, and correcting them as I learn.

Later I noticed some seeds (just generic herbs) had different rates of germination, and just seems to be growing really slow. I used those youtube timelapse vids to gauge this. This ‘sweet basil’ was the worst of them, barely producing any roots. I bought a ph/tds kit and noticed my municipal water is terrible: 600ppm, 8+ph. I corrected the ph to about 6.5 and placed a dose of probiotics. I kept the light level about 12 inches, I rearranged the fast growers cilantro and parsley and placed them at the edges to keep the grow light evenly distributed. To my enjoyment some of the herbs had immediate response, started really growing really well.

But this sweet basil case is very curious. Why did the true leaf yellow?
