I have been growing cacti and succulents in Lechuza PON for a while now, and last year I wanted to experiment if they can be grown semi-hydroponically.
So I got myself a new plant (I believe it’s a mammillaria backebergiana?), converted it into growing in PON, and moved it into a self-watering planter.
One year later it has grown some pretty healthy roots into the reservoir, gained about 1.5″ in height and now is starting to flower. This also made watering it a lot more straightforward – all I had to do is to top up the reservoir when it’s dry, and never had to worry about overwatering.
I have another succulent that is growing in a similar way that is equally happy.
