QUESTION, Gary when do you start direct seeding squash (winter and summer), cucumbers, beans & melons? I placed some seeds in the ground and growing transplants of them inside too, but here in zone 7a but tonight and tomorrow low 30s! Next week looks to be in 50s at night but crazy time of the year!

at 2:00 its 1 part peat moss… 1 part earth….and 1 part peat moss again? Watched your other vid, guessing it was supposed to be some type of compost as 1 part?

If you add water, won’t the soil become dense and compacted, in containers eventually?
Potting soil vids imo are more tailored to people who start quite a few seeds. Dare I say seed starting is for people who need a lot of plants. Economy of scale.
Vermiculite has been hard to find and more expensive since the plandemic. I've been using mine sparingly and substituting coco coir instead when i can because its so hard to find.
Great video Gary. Even folks like me on a suburban plot can save so much money and get a better product by mixing yourself instead of buying bagged stuff.
My potting/raised bed base is 30% coco coir 50% compost 10% worm castings and 10% perlite. With additions depending on where it's being used.
Seed mix is almost the same as yours except for coir instead of peat. The boiling water trick for indoors works well too.
