Roots and Refuge Farm: I’m taking a break from YouTube. (I’ll be back)

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. When your first child graduates it is a big deal. A lot of emotions to deal with. I was working and taking care of the rest of my children and it’s hard. I would cry for no reason. My boy was graduating and I could not keep him with me and know he was safe as much as before. It is a big deal when any of your children graduate. It’s a whole new season, so take time and absorb all of it.

  2. Take all the time that you need! Of course we will miss you but you deserve to heal, make memories and have some family fun 💙 you do so much for us, the least we can do is wait patiently x

  6. You need what you need!
I’ve recently needed to do some things to take care of myself. It’s not burn out for me, I’ve had that, it’s different. It’s almost as though there’s no pushing through. I know this makes things harder, but I completely believe you’re gonna come back so refreshed that you’ll have the energy and vitality to fully manage that challenge.
Your mind, body and spirit will only be ignored for so long…you need what you need!
    Please take care!!

  7. You are sharing a great teaching moment here, your own wellbeing should always be a priority..take all the time you need to breathe and do only what is most important to you. That should always be you,and your family. Much love, and we will see you when the time is right.

  8. its been a minute since I was reading the Bible but I do remember God was really adimate about his people taking time to rest. that sabath was a big deal. and it was not just day a week there was feast type days there was resting your land years there. regardless of faith in a God the moment we realize we are not taking needed rest out of fear we have to acknoledge we are operating in a fear mind set a lack mindset and that is not a healthy place to stay. there is a point when we need that mindset for survival we are in an extreme place being super low income with tiny babies I have been there. that is a place where you have to be careful you have to keep up the hustle that is a place where you have to push past what is best and that is a point when that can be justified but when God takes us out of that and puts us on a rock and we are not drowning anymore and you start to feel yourself climb and we celabrate it and we climb and climb and we forget we don't need anything more than to not be in the ocean with the crashing waves even if we are just back to the wet rock with the splashing waves. I am much closer to the first wet rock and not climbed up to the top of the clif next to you. and I don't want to go down at all but if I am walking in fear how am I suppose to attract abundance. or from the perspective of relationship with diety how are we suppose to experience the blessing of God when we want it to be of our own strength and we believe that if we rest we won't have what it is that we need and we do not accept that a creator who created us with the need to rest would also create a way for us to experience rest without it being detremental to our health

  9. Oh Jess, it's really necessary to take time before break downs happen. I know this first hand! You've learnt that recognizing the warning signs is necessary, in order to take time out to be a well rounded person. We'll be here when you're back. God bless you and yours from South Africa. ☕☘

  10. Thank you Jess for the honesty and wonderful example you are giving us, not only your physical needs but listening to the Holy Spirit. Your family is so much more important than utube and like so many have said we will be hère when you come back. Take care and God bless.

  11. Congratulations on your anniversary 🎉. Rest, revive, renew. Enjoy your family, your garden and yourself. God bless you and yours.

  12. I love this video so much!! I love your authenticity and more importantly, your faith! We can’t do any of this life on our own. We try and fail every time. Listening to the Holy Spirit and trusting the Lord over all is more fulfilling and restful then anything we can ever do! Prayers for you Jess and all your upcoming family transitions. Staying true and obedient to God isn’t always easy, but is always fruitful! 🙏🏼♥️

  13. Jess I've watched you for years, and I wish you the best on your little vacation 🥰 I will watch your old and new videos in the meantime. Love, from The Netherlands 😘🇳🇱
