I’m in so cal and the last few years they kind of come around all year. Climate change I guess. Our milkweed disappears with so many caterpillars. It seeds easily though so I have multiple plants for this spring. One caterpillar so far.
I would not. Tropical milkweed carries OE pathogen. Here’s a link to a page explaining why, and with links to local milkweed species lists for your area.
