Found in Illinois/Missouri area alongside a maintained bike path

I was out collecting grass and leaves for a student art project in Illinois near the Missouri border when I noticed these growing along the bike path. Tried to get a good look at the surrounding foliage, stems, etc. to identify them. This particular path is one I go to for Japanese Honeysuckle a lot but it is regularly mowed along the sides.
