Haworthia

Why?!

Literally every single time this guy/gal sprouts a new stem, it ends up failing under its own weight. I’ve never had a successful bloom because of this exact cause. What do I need to do to prevent this from happening? Do an orchid stem support type thing? (Note: tape is holding light. I had to keep moving light up to compensate for stem height growth)

I’m not an expert, and so this may be wrong, but maybe if you lower the light it won’t stretch so far and fail?

Looks like the limpotence fairy paid you a visit. All part of growing haws. No one knows how to prevent it.

I wouldn’t raise the light, I’d just let the stalk grow around it. The stalk doesn’t need the light, and you’re depriving the leaves that do.

Yea it’s very unlikely the Haw is getting enough light with it that far away. Download a plant light app on phone to see how fast it decreases with distance (the apps are pretty damn close to my actual light meter on an S22).

I will say, anecdotally, this happened to me waaaaaaay more in lower light situations early on in my Haw growing. I think you keep moving away the light which signals to the Haw to not waste energy on the bloom
