Ideas on how to start a native garden

Just started sheet mulching a new garden bed and want to turn it into a nice haven for birds and insects by focussing on native shrubs and trees.

It gets north sun all day so is very sunny, soil is a mix of clay and some softer stuff it seems. In Sydney.

The mango tree, lime tree and magnolias were already there so I need to work around them.

Have got a Acacia podalyriifolia in the ground next to the lime tree and have a golden wattle in a pot.
Ignore the Photonis in the large black pot, they will go somewhere else.

Am thinking of a water gum next to the mango tree to the right.

And want a grevillia or banksia shrub somewhere too.

Any tips?

I’ve recently completed doing a native plant backyard, I cleared the whole yard down the bare ground, brought large moss rock for garden edging, brought in compost mixed with river sand, mixed it within the existing dirt, planted everything, mulched, pine bark mulch, took me awhile because I did the whole back yard from scratch but was worth it.

I would start from getting rid of the loan and planing design for your native garden , thinking about plants , location, sun / water requirements
