I got this cactus (succulent?) at home depot I think, clearly it mostly died, but this guy grew off the side! What can I do with it? Can I separate it to grow on its own? Should I leave it until it's bigger? It seems to have one or two tiny roots at the bottom of it.
I love plants but do not have a green thumb. Any and all advice welcome! Thank you!

just cut off that rotten part and make sure your pot has a good drain. no need to upsize or downsize right now. if your pot is without drain hole replant into something with a good drain around the same size
