Schrodinger’s Broken Fence

I put almost 150 hours into building a new fence on the farm in the last two weeks. Finally got back to life and then this massive wind storm hit. It took out every old oak i love in my yard, probably 40 small-medium trees across the farm, and so far, 12 trees we have documented as being the oldest on the farm.

This smaller tree decided to pop and lean over above my nice new fence. I will just cut the wire and drop it, but it sort of amuses me how life can be. The fun never stops. I have probably put 50 hours on my chainsaws this year.

It can be very disheartening from time to time. I had a very similar incident about 5 years ago, busted a gut for mths clearing up a paddock and fencing it, one week after it was ready a tree went on the fence. A big get stuffed gum tree (in Australia), probably 40 m high and 1.5 m girth. I just shut the gate and couldn’t go near the paddock for a few mths. Made me wild. Took me two weeks straight all day to fix it once I had the emotional energy to deal with it.

    I feel you!
