I have a dilemma. Some over zealous leaf blowing by a so-called landscaper plus some construction around my house has wrecked a couple flower beds, which included several coral bells in different colors. (That’s the hook that reminded me.)

I have to get a whole slew of new things to revive the beds, and it’s going to be like a kid in a candy shop when I go shopping for it all. Some new coral bells are definitely on the list.

I decided to plant vegetables that I eat a lot. Even though I’ve never tried growing them before. So I’m trying, spinach, peas, garlic, onions, mini peppers, and scallions.

I’m working to introduce more native plants to my yard. I’ve added two goldenrod, two blue aster, a bee balm and a yarrow this spring.

I planted wild ginger a week and a half ago, and got my first bloom. Also this will be a first full season with blue iris in my pond and I’m excited to see that go off this summer

Day lillies, avocado, Indian sunblankets, plumbago, Meyer lemon and blackberries…

All while hoping my peaches, figs, and pecans all grow and produce (at least the dang pecans)

Hoping to keep my maroon ALMOST black petunias and black pansies alive. Any tips and tricks for the pansies would be appreciated.

I know a coral bell song from the 50/60s. Does anybody want to more

Our new plant is cantaloupe. Never grown it before but it’s the hubs favorite fruit so we are hoping to get some fresh beauties this year. 🤞🏻

  8. Nemesia. Planted it last year for a bed full of color in a raised bed. They were discounted at Lowes to half price because the flowers were going but the plants were fine. This year they’ve taken off and look incredibly healthy with countless buds probably a month from blooming.

Haven’t found more so I took cuttings this weekend for another 20 to fill the other half of the raised bed. We’ll see if they’ll root.

My new one this year is a little plumosa fern! I’ve been eyeing it every year in the store and decided to just try it. I’ve never had a fern before, I’ve only seen my mom and grandma care for some – and even then, we’ve never had any like this!

They have very small and soft, feathery foliage. Very satisfying to touch, so I couldn’t resist! However, within the first week of its arrival here, I accidentally left it in the hot sun before potting it and bleached some of the foliage lol.. 🤦‍♀️ It still looks healthy otherwise thankfully, so we press on! We’ll see how this goes haha
