there three veggies I’ll never grow in
my backyard garden corn this stuff is
grown locally pretty much everywhere
meaning it’s tasty and super cheap but
what you may not know is that this super
sized grain doesn’t produce well if you
only grow a few plants for full ears of
corn every strand of silk must be
pollinated and to ensure that it should
be grown in multiple rows and is the
tallest thing in the garden is going to
be casting a lot of shade on everything
else that’s growing potatoes are similar
to corn in that they’re widely grown and
easy to find plus you can get 10 lb for
under two bucks and they have a long
shelf life if stored properly potatoes
consume the same soil nutrients is
tomatoes eggplant and peppers meaning
less space for those in your garden and
the need to rotate growing there for at
least 3 years organic potatoes really
aren’t that much better in terms of
pesticide use even commercially grown
ones are some of the cleanest veggies
you can buy that’s because it’s the
leaves that get sprayed while the part
you eat stays covered in the ground
fennel this plant is related to carrots
parsley and Dill but it’s nowhere near
as friendly as those in scientific terms
fennel is allelopathic this means it
hinders the growth of a long list of
plants including Garden favorites like
tomatoes peas and beans you can’t grow
it in past

  1. And corn takes a LOT of water. Also, there's a reason ccs, ie frito lay, rents fields to grow potatoes. How do i know? They rented our fields.

  2. Potatoes and sweet potatoes have the most calories per acre; good to know if famine is predicted.

  3. In the Pacific North West, we pay a lot more than what you are talking about. The cheapest corn has been 2 for 1$. So corn and potatoes will be in my garden!

  4. Where are you getting 10 lbs of potatoes for under $2 ? It's $7 to $8 for 10 lbs here ๐Ÿ˜ข

  5. The purpose of leaves is to absorb nutrients for the entire plant to grow, including the root. They will also absorb any chemical sprayed on them. Even if the potato is in the ground, it's still contaminated.

  6. Conventional potatoes sit in the ground soaking up pesticide runoff throughout their entire growth cycle as an absorbant tuber (root) and are some of the highest in pesticides outside of thin-skinned fruits and salad greens.
