If I couldn't grow anything else, I will always grow herbs! They make food and drinks come alive, and you can make your own dried herbs so easily, by hanging them upside down in your home, on your porch, in your garage, greenhouse, or even in your car or truck đ ! My favorite way to use basil's is steeped as teas đ!
Does anyone else grow tarragon? I love a chicken salad made with mayo and chopped tarragon!
Which of these herbs is your favorite? Thanks for gardening with us! -CaliKim & CameraGuy đEARTH DAY SALE: 50% off all CaliKim Seed Collections with code âHAPPYEARTHDAYâ at https://calikimgardenandhome.com. Expires 4/22/24.
Your garden is just gorgeous! I grow most of those herbs, and like you I love chives in my eggs! Of course its also great in almost any potato dish too. Butterfly caterpillars always eat up my dill. Trying to find a way to keep some for myself!đ
Up here in Alberta Canada ,I grow a pile of dill and dry it before the heat of summer. Same for cilantro and basil. Itâs a longgg dark winter in these parts so dried herbs are a big deal if one doesnât want to fork out big bucks for fresh winter herbs at the grocery store.
Holy Basil tea is the quintessential summer drink. It smells amazing and healthy.
If you havenât tried Caribe Cilantro give it a try. Iâm in Texas and itâs still not bolted but my traditional cilantro has.
I love basil to make pesto!
So many wonderful onesđ I like Lemon thyme. Bought a transplant and itâs been growing for years. Good on veggies and fish.
My cilantro is a little bigger now
Zone 8b nc coast here. Just this morning we direct sowed sweet and opal basil in a ring pattern in two smart pots (bird netting on top). If we're worth our salt we should have a neat photo to attach to pot review. Very much enjoying the smart pots. Have a wonderful spring both of yah!
All fabulous choices. Rosemary: I am feeling so accomplished – I FINALLY got it to germinate this year – and successfully progragated a few cuttings. Oh and basil thrives in shade too. The cooler soil really slows down the blooms but not the overall growth. If you haven't tried it, you really should.
I love the mints and lemon balm all the time, too.
Cilantro and rosemary is my nemesis. No matter how many seeds I sow, none of them wants to sprout at all. So, yea, I bought a couple of rosemary starts and plan to keep them going.
I have a huge rosemary bush! Just got into chives with seeds. My favorite basil variety is Greek Columnar Basil. It lasts well into winter. I buy the plants from a nursery in Santa Cruz but I can never find seeds for it. I'm one of the minority that finds cilantro tastes like disinfectant.
Your garden is so beautiful right now! â„ Basil and rosemary are my favorite herbs, and it's so wonderful having them growing in pots on the patio!
I didn't get good germination from the garlic chive seeds. They will spread, so I'm not worried about it. I have basil, dill, and cilantro seeds sprouting. I have mint, peppermint, spearmint, parsley, basil, chicory, yarrow, Vulgare Oregano, Greek Oregano, Lemon Thyme, catnip, and marjoram growing. Elephant Garlic was a disappointment. It grew great during the winter, but took a turn for the worse when the spring heat came. My grocery store mystery garlic is doing great. I know not to buy Elephant Garlic this fall, but will look at buying more garlic. My Red Beard bunching onions are doing great. I never have problems with them. My luck with bulbing onions hasn't been good, mostly because of voles. This year I am planting them in a new location, White Creole Onion, and am hoping they do well. If not, I'll replace them with ginger.
I'm so excited, I just got rid of a huge chunk of grass in my front yard and have converted it to a herb and cut flower garden. I just finished planting it all out and can't wait for it to start growing!
I cook my own dog food and add rosemary and other herbs into their food for extra flavour and nutrition. Iâm going to try growing dill and coriander in the shade next summer here in South Australia because it just bolts in our hot summers
Great video I'm saving this one!
Kim I know what you mean Herbs are so expensive In the grocery store I always start mine from seed to
