Roots and Refuge Farm: The best day ever (I LOVE SPRING) | VLOG

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. Hey y'all, Everything there is so green. I noticed one of the views down at the pond showed a shot similar to the ones you showed us when you first went there to claim your intent to buy the property. I saw all that you are doing and have done and it all looks so impressive. Day by day we build a family, a farm, a sense of community and a life that is pleasing to God. Very majestic. I always am touched by parents that take one on one time with their children one or two maybe three at a time. The smaller the number the larger the impact esp for a child that is with mom or dad for several hours all alone. I hope you can find time for fishing on a regular basis as you will be rewarded later. Beautiful video…….

  2. The lake I fished on as a child had catfish and we were told catfish need a ball of worms instead of a hook.

  3. My wedding was on Saturday in Rock Hill SC so you know how crazy the storms were! ! There was hail and crazy winds but it came at the most perfect timing ,so no soaked wedding dress " phew"!! or ruined food lol it was a beautiful chaotic perfect day and we came home an hour ago to my garden in my backyard that has come alive even more. Definitely ready for tomatoes and peppers soon 💚💚💚

  4. LMAO! Balance…milking goats while on an important business call, fast forward to fishing. I love that SOOOO much! Yep…balance

  5. It's funny for me to hear you talk about having a 90 degree day when I am still getting a frost warning from my weather app. hehe

  6. I've enjoyed Spring this year, but it's coming to an end here soon in the Sonoran desert. (At least in my yard)

  7. I so understand that feeling! I'm sitting here on a Sunday afternoon in springtime pruning my tomatoes (found my first baby tomato of the year!🎉) and just feeling so very happy and blessed! Trying to soak it all in before it gets hot and miserable!

  8. I have a 3 year old Ezra. I'm sure I got that name from your channel. Anyway, "the worm pulls away from my cold embrace" sounds like something my Ez would say, too 😂

  9. what fun it would be if that same 2nd grade class could come back when there is lots to harvest and your garden is at its most magnificence!

  10. I want to suggest a book series by Chad Stewart. The Britfield Series. Phenomenol and kid friendly. Actually geared toward middle school children but adults love them too. They don't have the audio books yet. But you won't be able to put them down once you start reading them. I think all of your children would love them as well.

  11. Spring is my favorite time of year because everything is sprinkled with colorful wildflowers. Everything is waking up again. It’s so beautiful.

  12. Having a pond on your homestead and the ability to sit, relax & fish with your boys anytime your heart desires is such a treasure to behold. Life doesn’t get any better than this! 💙💙💙💙💙

  13. I'm with ya, Jess, "I just live spring!" I just said that to my grandson yesterday. We see God's beauty in all the seasons and creation He has given us.
It would of been very helpful to have seen Miah's goat hoof trimming…there's lots on YouTube, but to see it from someone you're invested in and trust, makes a huge difference.

  14. Your old pavilion table down by the pond under the tree by the dock would be great! Perfect for setting tackle boxes, worm buckets, water bottles, fishing nets, life jackets, snacks etc. I grew up on a river, and we always had a picnic table closer to the dock for those kinds of things.

  15. My yard has been so lush and gorgeous this year. Bulbs, now Iris and Lilac, strawberries blooming – grass is full of bright-faced Dandelions, sweet Violets…I’m watching the greening of the trees every day, too! It definitely rejuvenates me.

  16. Springtime is my favorite season! We had an extraordinarily GORGEOUS day here in South Central IL today. Was 75, a slight breeze, not a cloud in the sky and we planted more peas, onions, radishes, I got my cucumbers in the ground and we watered our tomatoes. I have radishes and lettuce coming up. Some herbs are awakening from their slumber. We have had a very cool spring so far. Had some warm days, but tomorrow is supposed to be 58 for a hight and 62 on Wednesday, then get back into the low 70's. Just been up and down. I had windows open, hung 4 loads of laundry on the line and got a sunburn. I LOVE this time of year too. After the rain tomorrow, everything will smell so sweet and fresh again. Awake my soul to Springtime! Yes, it is the best day ever!
    LOVE your pond. Amazingly beautiful.

  17. I feel this exactly!!! I just LOVE Spring! I love the feeling, the weather, the birds and seeing my chickens all over my yard and I just love the sun on my face. & my kiddos say those things on normal ol’ Tuesdays too ❤ Or I’ll make dinner and it’ll be the same recipe I always use and my youngest will say “Mommy this is the best dinner you’ve ever made!” This time of year is just good for the soul ❤

  18. Holy cow! The camera quality and the view this lense is giving is like seeing your farm for the first time! The quality is outstanding! Everything looks so green and lush! I can't wait to see more this summer!❤❤ so pretty!
