You will absolutely love the "Guernsey Cream' clematis! I have grown them for years and they are very reliable… even in our zone 4 climate. The flowers are HUGE!
Do you have to bring the hostas inside somewhere for the winter?
Laura, maybe put up a tall piece of white lattice between the post and your house and grow something up it to block the grill area. It would look nice with your freshly painted house.

So nice seeing Samantha interacting with you in planting and shopping for new plants. Love the new red maple and the hostas which make that area look wonderful. Although you have no place to move your grill, it does seem hidden somewhat and doesn't deflect from the plants.
I just loved it too! The simple projects around the house give me joy watching you do them just as much as the big projects do. It brought back memories of you doing little projects here and there around the house and the original property when you guys first moved there. What a nice day you had with Samantha.. she’s getting so big, the time just flows right on by… ♥️🥹

The violets would make a nice ground cover over in the pond areas….. but the ones I have naturalized to the yard areas, and I just sheet mulched out where I planted. But they are natural to my areaI think too so maybe they don't spread as much. Even after 5 or 6 years it is just a few clumps around and Im not trying for a pure grass yard either.
