The absolute jealously I have over anyone able to grow peonies. I’m attempting to in Zone 9b (delusional, I know). This year they have only put out foliage, hoping for blooms in the next few years if they take.

Probably have an ant mound that goes down four feet in the ground nearby. I have never seen a peony open up without ant colony that can open them up. They are beautiful though.
