Distressing moment deputy kills 15-year-old autistic boy charging him with gardening tool

A 15-year-old boy with autism was shot dead by a California sheriff’s deputy after charging at him with a long-bladed gardening tool, distressing bodycam video shows.

The officer-involved shooting was reported before 5 p.m. Saturday, after the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about a domestic disturbance in Apple Valley, authorities said.

The caller reported that 15-year-old Ryan Gainer was attacking his sister and smashing up glass and doors at the family home.

  1. I'm very conflicted, I've seen posts with misleading headlines and I had to look up the video
Goes to show the media pushes a narrative once again

  2. if the family really cared about their kid being autistic, they wouldn't have called the cops on him. sounds like the family is evil and wanted an easy way to get rid of their burden plus a potential payday from a lawsuit

  3. Officer showed remarkable restraint and only fired after being charged down the road. Regardless of the boys mental state and age he charged him with a deadly weapon after warnings.
This is tragic for both the family and the officer but I want to know how it came to the point where the police were called to deal with a mental outburst.

  4. Stop calling the police family should handle their own problem. Every time the police do anything these two bit lawyers looking for a payout.

  5. Where’s BLM when it comes to Dems flooding Blk communities with illegals treated like kings. Billy Chemirmir over 22 elderly women. But all Wht so the New York Times doesn’t cover it

  7. The 1st cop was trying not to shoot him. He was literally running away from the kid which is a dangerous situation to be in, obviously. It's extremely sad but people need to learn something called respect and teach it to their kids too.

  8. YouTube deleted my comment, so I’ll post again. The boys behavior was not acceptable, autism or no. Many of these people with issues are coddled for way too long and then their families cry when the police don’t act like a coparent.

  9. Why did he run he said he was going to shoot?! Just because you can be a cop doesn't mean you should be a cop

  10. Of course the media would want to spin a title that would garner as much sympathy for the kid as possible. Thankfully the Officer's bodycam gives crystal clear evidence of why this fatal shooting happened. Regardless of the age or mental state of the 15 year old, he rushed at the officer with an implement whos intended purpose was to be utilized as a deadly weapon. His actions demonstrated that he was a threat and Law Enforcement responded accordingly when it was clear that he could not be deterred by verbal commands or retreating.

  11. Call the police to stop him sue police cuz they stopped him DONT CALL THE POLICE IF ITS NOT AN EMERGENCY but you called them because he was Assaulting people and he comes out with a weapon! CASE CLOSED JUSTIFIED

  12. The Family members could have handle this another way. They could have tried to take the Garden Tool away from their 15 year old.

  13. Just got done arguing with a libtard how the police shouldn’t have shot him, They called the police there to help and the kid is a teenager with enough strength to wield a scythe, of course he knows how to use it he chased him down, cops did nothing wrong the parents should have prevented this by locking up dangerous objects so their disabled son cant access them, like if they had guns they should be in a safe, so should knives at that point!

  14. Oh, wow, another incident where it turned out the deceased was trying to commit a murderous act against someone. Who could have predicted that?!
