  1. I chited potatoes last year put them in the basement and forgot about em until recently. The sprouts ( yes there sprouts ) are about 15 inches long. Am wanting to plant them soon, should I cut the sprouts or leave them alone ? Any thoughts on this ?

  2. Potatoes are the best. Delicious, nutrient dense, filling in relatively small amounts, and you can do so many different things with them.

  3. Thank you! I'm currently chitting my very first seed potatoes. I've never grown potatoes before and I went a little overboard, so this should be fun! 😂

  4. Привет из России !)) ….такая же картошка.. среди таких же берёз !))

  5. It's so strange that the 'big' information sources out there don't mention those two types of growing habits of a potato plant which sounds like a pretty crucial thing to know! It also doesn't help that there is no information on it on the bags of seed potato as well… Thank you so much for this informative video, I work in a veg garden and I mentioned this to the head gardener with 20 years of experience (a very good grower too) who also didn't seem to know this so thank you! Will be trying this out, I will guesstimate how to plant it and see how it goes… with this new found knowledge I'll be able to better assess the crop. Sending best wishes and happy growing !!

  6. I have a very big garden and I collect lots of grass clippings and I was wondering if I dry them out can I grow potatoes in them instead of straw

  7. Great positive video as ever. All with a smile. I'm planting 4 varieties and I cant find anywhere online (with out disappearing down potato rabbit holes) to tell me if they are determinate or indeterminate. Seed potato suppliers don't display this information and even tomato seed suppliers sometimes. I think its something to campaign on. I will keep looking. I'm planting Ratte, Charlotte, Arron Pilot and Sapo mira (determinate?).

  8. About to embark on my first crop. How many indeterminate seed potatoes would you put in this size bucket, and would you put them 1/3 up from the bottom?

  9. Thank you so much for this video, so many great tips!
Do you have any thoughts or advice on second showings of potatoes for a Christmas harvest? I have a container garden and would like to extend the season but not sure which types to grow or when to plant.
    Thank you so much.

  10. Many Thanks for potato Tip im having a go at growing king Edwards in a pot and with store them in my green house until it gets warmer

  11. WHY on earth would you water in the potatoes after planting them? There isn't any roots. That's a good way to rot your seed potatoes.

  12. I never planted the whole potatoes i always plant tiny peelings of the potatoes and they grow really well and lots of harvest

  13. Thanks so much for this video! I just received my seed potatoes (pentland javelin and pink fir apple) hopefully I’m not too late planting them!

  14. I planted (UK) a few leftover chitted potatoes (Albert Bartlett store bought !) in the ground very late last year (maybe August), left them to overwinter (!) & just lifted the last of them on 26 March. Fine, decent quality just a couple slug-holed – times are a changing. Solved the storage problem !

  15. Very interesting video thank you, i am growing some in containers this year again for my second year, i do find growing early potatoes in containers much easier just remove what need for lunch, rather than having to lift a complete root. Just planted Rocket variety in a couple of small containers to get started.

  16. I first learned how to grow potatoes from you several years ago! I was so afraid that they wouldn't grow but you assured me they would but it would take a few weeks and they did! I've been growing potatoes ever since but I just learned about indeterminate and determinate and I do really want to grow the different varieties like you mentioned in this video to have a continual harvest. Thank you for all your hard work over the years and for this awesome very detailed masterclass!

  17. Did anyone follows his advice? 😂 I just wanna know if it worked for others I'm new to this

  18. I would like to grow potatoes, I have some 'kestral' seed potatoes. Can I grow these alongside garlic, I don't have much other space?

  19. Didn’t know about the storing in the dark thing being bad and my seed potatoes have the long and spindly shoots… are they still worth planting?

  20. I have ended up with Caledonian pearl potatoes and they are very small how many earlies
Should I plant them in groups and how big will the result be

  21. How many King Edward main crop seed potatoes should I put in a 30 litre container? Also, should I put all of them at the bottom like you said here? Thanks.
