If you haven’t been successful with air plants, it’s not because there’s a trick with watering. It’s because you had no idea whether there was enough light – “bright indirect light” isn’t telling you where NOT to put the plant. Use a light meter to make sure the indirect light is strong enough. Measure light for as many years as I have and you will see why right in front of the window (where the plant will have the widest possible view of the sky) is the only place that even comes close.

Here’s my big T. caput-medusae with its 4 pups. The plant is green because I watered it just now. When it dries, it will have a greyish fuzz, which are the trichomes.
