  1. Curious…..is the string algae something you can add to a compost pile to later feed plants?🌿🌿🌷🌷🌷🌿🌿

  2. Fun to learn about the pond. Wonder if Paul could design a fake pile of wood that was hollow and hide all the dials, plugs, etc over there by the stump. for the pond???? Which would protect from snow, ice etc.

  3. SHADE, SHADE, SHADE!! 🏖️
I also have a Aquascape pond, I live in Broward County, FL (South FL) we are a zone 10a and the same thing happened to my pond but only sooner. After 4mths of the pond going in, it looked exactly like yours.
The reason the algae bloomed so quickly is that the pond is exposed to the sun, there was no over head shade trees or coverings. You have to remember although algae can grow in low light conditions, the best way to get on top of it or prevent it entirely is make sure your pond receives shade. Algae grows prolifically under constant sunlight.
I made a comment on your video when you first had the pond installed telling you that it's too exposed to the sunlight and that you won't make it a full year without your pond being overgrown with algae! Take it from someone who's had 3 Aquascape ponds comparable in size to yours and bigger, and someone who lives in the 🌡️🔥 hottest climate… SHADE, SHADE, SHADE!!! 🏖️🏖️🏖️

  4. Love your pond! We have one and it’s so relaxing to sit by it and hear the splashing of the waterfall and watch the fish.

  5. I’m sorry but this pond is a pain in the behind.way too much to deal with, nothing natural about it.

  6. Maybe you can create a farie house village there to hide the infrastructure. Then you could just lift the houses to access each controller. Keeps extra water away from your equipment too.

  7. Laura you let us know so much thats informative but also sooo fun and down to earth. I look forward to all your posts. The pond is beautiful and glad its irregular shaped so much more natural looking. Love your cat always being around. Bless you and your family.❤

  8. OMG! Our farm ponds and creeks here in the Midwest have been inundated with moss for well over a decade now. It started happening in the winter about 9 years ago and that was unheard of then. It’s a nightmare! 😖

  9. Wow! Labor intensive project, but SO worth it. Your pond is so beautiful and will bring you pleasure for years to come. You are getting it “dialed” in. Quite a learning experience.

  10. Wow didn’t think algae could get that bad, over winter especially. Definitely just plant a ground cover that can handle traffic to cover all the cables and utilities for the pond on that stump

  11. Such a beautiful feature and hangout place. The sound of water, the koi gently swimming, the fire, all add to the zen ambience. You guys are always right on top of everything, despite this enormous property. Just love your content, and I'm a broken record 😂❤

  12. I wonder will you use the algae as a fertilizer? Algae is a sustainable, renewable, and economical source of fertilizer. It is great for plants. Douglas steals the show as he guards the stump! I did not see any water going into the skimmer is water going in?

  13. Water changes, water changes, water changes! Starve it out!
It's eating nitrogen in the water column. If there's no nitrogen it can't grow.
