Why I’m missing @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show no.2… each Thursday in May we’re throwing back the years to a Chelsea garden (or in this case ‘feature’ as it wasn’t judged). This week it’s 2014; The Moors to the Sea was the brainchild of The RHS and #alantitchmarsh to celebrate Alan’s 50 year career in horticulture as well as 50 years of Britain in Bloom. Rustled up in a matter of weeks with the help of trusty brilliant suppliers, @markgregory1960 & @landformuk pulled some significantly heavy rocks out of the bag, built a great big bank (this was probably the garden that started my self confessed ‘edifice complex’) and we made some brilliant new friends all the way from Australia (you know who you are @charlie_albone and I agree, it’s probably for the best that #mickconway doesn’t do social media) who came to help with construction, planting and hangovers; the memory of which still makes me feel a little bit 🤢. The weather was so vile and cold at the beginning (rivers of mud is no exaggeration) but by the time Alan donned his hi-vis, mucked in and helped us push through to the finish the sun had come out and Chelsea shook off the dust of construction and shone in all her May glory.
