ยฉ A Beautiful Jungle

Hi welcome back to beautiful jungle if you are new here thank you for stopping by my name is Sharon gardening in zone 8A today I’m going to take you guys along as I set up my two new 8×3 beds um that thing on the ground that you see

The black thing on the ground that’s weed barrier fabric I have cardboard in at the bottom of these beds and now I’m spreading out the leaves that collected in the yard from 2023 fall you can also use this method in your fabric pots I have done that in my flower pots as well

Cardboard leaf mulch now I’m adding uh food scraps that I collected inside the house and I put them in plastic bag you can put your food scraps if you’re not ready to take them out in your freezer you can save them inside of your refrigerator as well

I had these outside because it was winter time so I just put them in a plastic bag and I put them outside this is another way you can do um in place compost if you have not seen that video I will link the video to this um

Video so another way to save money you can reuse the soil in your containers um these were containers that were used last year I grew peanuts in them and I grew um ginger in them I probably will end up using them again so that will give me an

Opportunity to show you guys how I make my soil because I made this soil here and I did and look at the worms I’m getting the worms out of them I did um fertilize this last year when I closed down the garden also just make sure that

You are removing all of the roots big roots from out of these containers from out of the soil that you’re reusing and the reason for removing those roots is because you don’t the plants that we putting there we don’t want them to be competing with other roots that are in

There the roots are breaking down but if they’re large chunky Roots you you need to remove them because it’s going to take a while for them to um break down also I didn’t I didn’t show it here but I added in some pearlite because the

Soil seemed kind of heavy to me so I wanted it a little bit more light and fluffy so I added in some pearlite in this um bed also now the thing about the leaf is that you you will see the level of your soil like next year it will drop

Down because we’re going to be removing plants from there and the leaves are going to going to level down and break down also so you will have to add more soil to this bed with the other um bed 8 by3 bed cardboard leaves food scraps and compost with peite in there

Also hi guys welcome back to a beautiful jungle my name is Sharon um so you guys were with me yesterday when I went step by step and how I start my bed so these are the two 8×3 beds so today I adding bush beans to it this method is not my

Method I saw um someone I watch also I’m subscribed to their Channel um broke farmer he set up some new beds and he added beans to his bed to add nitrogen to the bed so what one or two of either one of these beds are going to be watermelon these are designated for

Watermelon and winter squash the Vining squash so I am going to cuz they’re new I’m going to put some bush beans in there and Bush Beans takes about um it’s between 50 to 60 days to harvest from sewing the seed in the ground to harvest so I have dragon tongue Bean Dragon tongue

Bean red Swan Bean black turtle bean and Contender Bean the green bean and I have Jameson Bean those beans were from um the first four those I purchased from um Baker Creek this is from Urban Farmers so this is the Jameson Bean this is navy bean I think I have

Like about four beans left inside of here so I’m just going to use that up and I have this is from em I Garder midnight black turtle Bean Turtle bean and these are all bush beans so I already added about 12 I stopped right here Contender beans and I’m just going to label

Them I’mma label from this side because this whole line so it’s I’m going to do four in each bed so I should have four package here I have seven cuz I added in the navy bean I have seven beans here cuz I added in the navy beans but the contender is going to go straight across and these will be up by the time I put my I I don’t think they’ll bother so

Much the um squash or watermelon because I’m just going to have them on this side so I’m putting them in about an inch oo that’s a big old mosquito about an inch and giving them a space and spacing them Out and I’m not putting them too close to the edge of the bed here’s a little tip if you want to speed up your germination you can soak your beans overnight so I did the same thing with the second bed but I wanted to talk to you guys about the giveaway that’s

Happening in March on March 28th they are two giveaway prizes that is happening um a seven pack grow bag and Burpee 36 sea star and sell tray reusable sea star and sell tray so if you have not subscribed yet go ahead and subscribe and give this video a like

And share the video also thank you so both beds have been watered in pretty well and it’s going to rain this week all the way into next week so I’m not too worried about that so they’ll get plenty of water if it doesn’t rain tomorrow

I’ll come out and I’ll um water it a little bit more but my garden hose um both of my garden hose broke when it froze they broke so I need to purchase some new garden hose I have yet to find a good garden hose that gives me that pressure that gives me

Anyway you know what I’m about to do right I’m about to ramble if you know me I’m about to ramble so I just wanted to show you guys um give you a little step by step of me setting up these two 3×8 beds and um putting beans into them to

Put nitrogen into the um into the soil so they should be ready by the time I’m ready to plant out my like I mentioned plant out my um winter squash and my watermelons so I just want to say thank you for coming along with me and

Spending a little time with me to get this Garden for 2024 together and I hope you learned something I pray this information was helpful don’t forget to like share and subscribe thank you and have a blessed day byebye I’m going in the house now

  2. Hi Sharon. question, do you add a weed barrier to the bottom of the bed? if so, why put the barrier and not let the dirt, leafs, and all those worms also amend your bed? Or is the bottom open to the ground?

  3. Hi Sharon nice bed, I think you did a beautiful job with the addition to your Beautiful Jungle๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒฑ im loving it ๐Ÿ˜Š โค๏ธ
