Here’s a useful mental shift: instead of using “caused by” (which tends to immediately place blame), try using “occurs when” to make sense of observations.

Here’s my monstera in a new pot. Disclosure: the plant doesn’t live here the shower; I just moved it here for the gram. Leaf tip damage *occurs when* minerals accumulate in the soil. This makes sense for my plant because it had been root bound for over a year and I was unable to repot in a timely fashion. Because of the place where the plant lived, I couldn’t flush the soil through with water.

Now that I’ve repotted it, I’m confident the overall plant can sustain more leaves. Those leaf tips will never go back to green and I’m fine to let them be. 2️⃣ It happens in the natural environment anyway.
