Man arrested after allegedly shooting landscape worker for blowing leaves at his vehicle



Police say the suspect went up to his apartment after he shot the landscaper.

Reporter Megan Rena has our lead story tonight from public safety headquarters. So Megan, you tracked down the victim’s boss. What did he tell you? Henry says the victim, the 35 year old victim worked for the landscaping company cut, right? His boss didn’t want to go on camera but told me over the phone,

He is shocked and praying for his employee. He says tomorrow he’ll be meeting with workers to talk about what happened outside this apartment complex of highway 90 at Westfield, a leaf blower surrounded by crime scene tape. Police say a 35 year old landscaper was just doing his job when he was gunned down.

This is not something that is acceptable. They arrested this man 50 year old Charles Martin. He’s now facing an aggravated assault charge. They say it appears Martin was frustrated. The landscapers were blowing leaves towards his vehicle. Police say he went to the front office to complain, but eventually confronted the workers.

I guess it wasn’t handled to his satisfaction. He came out and took matters into investigators say he shot the victim at least 10 times. Adonis Gomez has lived at the apartment complex for five years. He says shootings happen all the time.

Individual is held accountable for what he did. And earlier tonight, that victim was in surgery. Police say at last check, he’s still in critical condition as far as the suspect. When we asked him about this arrest, he had nothing to say to our cameras reporting live from public safety headquarters, Megan Rena.

    Four times for violent assault…. Don't tell me that 3 Strikes laws are racist. Just because a man is Black doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be locked away for the rest of his life. Disgusting that this man was out in civilized society.

    Blowing leaves towards his vehicle? You mean the vehicle that he is never going to drive again? I'm sure this man's charges will be upgrade eventually. 
    And, then people wonder why most of America fears black people. I work in the public space and I am always having to deal with some kind of drama! It's always some kind of attitude or being prone to violence as a first measure.

    At 1:44 "We're going to do everything we can to make sure that this individual is held accountable for what he did." Aggravated Assault? NOT attempted murder? Four previous convictions of assault? What a broken system, it needs to be overhauled. Just Sayin'.

    Nobody complain about him having many convictions and was out in the street…..JUST because he is not an illegal immigrant…which i bet the guy that was shot was…earning an honest living….my prayers are the the landscape worker….
