My Front Yard Garden! February 2024



Come along with me and see what I’ve got growing on in my front yard garden during this frosty February garden tour!

Hey guys it’s Jason from garding with Jason um hope you’re having a good morning after a good weekend I thought I’d bring you out front today and show you what I’ve got going on in the front yard okay so it is chilly morning this morning on February the 12th here in Ohio zone

6 this is a view of our front yard this morning there’s a chill in the air with a nice um layer of frost on the ground this morning the sun is shining through through the sky through the clouds there we’re going to go over here to the front entrance of the house

As you come to the front door we have a lemon thread false Cyprus that pile of sticks right there is a a Kodiak black deer Villa or bush honeysuckle from Proven Winners along with some spent Autumn Joy seum I’ve got three I believe they are Gerard’s white aelas they’re supposed to stay pretty

Well dwarf size uh two to three feet tall and wide this nice green patch these are made in pinks started from seed they get little pink white flowers all over them this tree I have here this is a Stellar Pink Dogwood it’s been here for two years now and I

Have yet to see any blooms on it so I’m hoping this year I’ll get some buds some blooms looks like it’s got some buds on it already got a little patch of cardinal flower here some candy tff some campanola this here is a little lime punch hydranga and it highlights our

Bravi gets a nice tinge of yellow on it in the spring and of course this here is one of my favorite ground covers that it’s called snow and summer and it just Sparkles with that coat of frost on there got some type of rug juniper I’m not sure if it’s a blue rug

Or um a different variety I get that on clearance one one year at lows the Skyrocket Juniper got more of the snow and summer wrapping around the corner here got a bunch of various perennials in here penan some day lies uh daffodils tulips Sedum these are many roses I need to trim back

As well some more Stone summer ground cover got some daffodils starting to poke through the ground there this was also Lowe’s fun this was a golden Falls weeping red bud got a spilled wine waja there some more day lies some mcari gold cone Juniper flanking the side of the arbor there couple Danica

Arbores another lemon thread Cyprus this here is a bobo hydrangea and a Black Tower Elderberry and you see a mugo pine a dwarf mugo pine there on the left that Rose by the arbor is supposed to be a uh it’s supposed to be a u zephrine drwan climbing rose but I don’t believe

It it is I believe it was mislabeled so be careful getting your roses from Home Depot they might be mislabeled there’s some more Autumn Joy Sedum a uh Blue Spruce figata so it’s a cumer blue spruce supposed to only get six feet wide by 25 feet tall got a gray Al Juniper

There um some Tuscan tuskin gold I believe it’s tusken gold heliopsis I’ve got an amsonia there a Lemon Squeeze penum orange rocket Barberry some blue star Junipers that is a laced up Elderberry an amber Jubilee nine bark right there in front of the lemon thread Cyprus that’s a berry white hydrangea surrounded with some um pamon that I grew from seed I’ve got some real pretty pink and white tulips that are planted right in

Here but it kind of looks like some something’s been digging around so I’m hoping the squirrels didn’t get them um oh maybe not because it looks like they might be showing some life right there it’s a little blue kazoo spia got a golden Spirit smoke bush half Frozen bird bath with

A candy corn Spa that is showing some signs of Life budding out as well very excited about that one I got that one on sale this year at meav View Gardens meav view grower I should say the wee bit grumpy hydrangea some more day lies there’s some uh daffodils planted within there

Too as well another dwarf mugo pine it’s a little lime hydrangea it’s another spy I believe that one is gold flame um behind the little lime hydrangea I have some tough stuff AA hydrangeas as well as um kodiac orange deer Villa and Kodiak Red Deer Villa right in front of this front

Border there’s a variety of perennials um some B bomb that I started from seed uh as well as some irises some uh agaki that was started from seed and there’s some Sedum ground cover as well a uh Miss Kim Lilac a double doozy uh double play doozy spia from Proven Winners bunch of Stella Doro day Liles with a quick fire Fab ADR um and then I’ve got this Prairie Fire crab apple to cover the bed over the next few years I may have to change this to shade stuff then but we’ll see we’ll see how it

Develops um I have an Alberta spruce back there some Autumn Joy Sedum that big tall structure of sticks there that you see that is my Chicago hardy fig um I have the border flanked with a bunch of lambier as well as a blueo juniper back

There that I do not believe is going to survive and then some uh a mini maroon Barberry back there in the back as well as a golden Tower barberry in the back and a uh little a small black dice Elderberry back there another Miss Kim Lilac

There this is a nice hedro of forever Goldie arborus flanking the neighbors driveway here I have a couple different PR and winners flocks in front of them that I got on sale from Lowe’s at the end of the season that one appears to be showing off some some new growth from the base

There some Rebecca I leave the seat heads on some Shasta daisy as well there um that structure sticks right there that is a purple purple Pearl Glam beauty Berry uh with a denim lace Russian sage next to it there’s a variety of cone flowers in here as

Well this tree here this is a flamethrower Red Bud it was a another Lowe’s find at the end of the season last year I’m very excited about watching that one develop and grow a little quick fire hydrangea right there with some golden Golden Globe arbores I really wanted to focus on my

Winter interest in this front garden so I planted a lot of a lot of Evergreen material that I received half off to 75 % off at the end of the season usually every year at Lowe’s or Home Depot that’s a neopia at pad dead grass then the front border of the bed I

Have a couple different um butterfly bush many dwarf butterfly bushes and um some dwarf crepe myrtles I believe their raspberry daquiri great Myrtle I have to look up and find out for sure but I believe they’re raspberry daquiri these three butterfly bushes right here are magenta munchkin I get them from end of

The season Meer sale for $5 each got some yellow brick road Sedum that’s looking pretty terrible right now hopefully that comes back and a poster blue butterfly bush next to this lemon thread FAL Cyprus and then that hydrangea right there that is a little hottie hydrangea my first editions plants

Okay that wraps up everything I’ve got going on right now in the front bed I’m going to switch to a wider angle View and give you an overview of the entire front garden okay this is the wider view that I have for you as if you’re walking down the

Sidewalk we got the Sun at my back here so it’s going to be hard to keep my shadow out of it I’ve got the whole front yard mulched over other than a walking path to the front door okay guys that does it for the front yard February Garden
