Roots and Refuge Farm: The Epic Showdown (And Our Farmer’s Market) VLOG

Beulah Roasting Co Website for Fulmer Street Market: https://www.beulahroastingco.com/pages/fulmer-st-market

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. Market bouquets : unexpected ? You’d love what You Can’t Eat the Grass ( Serena and Ian) do. Although in an opposite ( canadian, dry) climate.

  2. One more that I like is Mahogany Splendor Hibiscus. It's a filler that has burgundy foilage. It may be a tender perennial for you. Johnny's seeds.

  3. At least it smells good. I get lemon balm all over my yard I think the seeds just blow around. Spoon tomatoes for the bouquets! They are too time consuming to pick anyway lol.

  4. This is the perfect day. Words of God then God beauty. Thank you Jess for allowing me to get my day off to a wonderful day. ❤

  5. I know you're crazy busy so this probably wouldn't work for you but don't underestimate the power of essential oils. They smell awesome to us but very strong to pets. You could try one of those screens like you have on the milk room and just cover all the areas the cat sneak by with essential oil. You might have to repeat a couple times but when they walk close to it they will associate it with a very strong smelling thing and won't want to push through.

  6. I bought some loose tea from your Beulah Roasting Co. and it was the best loose tea I have ever bought. I am an avid tea drinker and I have bought many many ounces of loose tea in my lifetime and I am 68.

  7. Exciting to see what you would do with cut flowers. Celosia and amaranth are great additions, along with zinnnia, cosmos, gladioli, lilies. Many small leafed shrubs provide great additions as the greens – esp those with chartreuse leaves. We are behind in spring weather so yes ones is so looking forward to Spring!

  8. I would take men over Bermuda grass any day! I have had that stuff in my garden for years in my raised beds, and still have not been able to annihilate it

  9. Is there a Spotify gardening playlist you’ve made? Would love to have some soul-filling hands in the dirt beats to jam to while my son and I garden.

  10. I started watching you in your tough times, and wow have you come along way I love that you still give praise to the Lord for everything that you have, and that you seem to have remained a very sincere person. You deserve all the blessings that you have received.keep up the good YouTube videos because it keeps the rest of us going

  11. Not gonna lie… I stalked y’all this weekend. Beulah is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Was traveling home to Manning SC from Athens GA. Honestly, very pleasing. The look, the accessibility, the feel, everything. Awesome ❤️

  12. You could put the rolling barn door on the inside of the greenhouse with 2 screen doors. That way you can roll them out of the way on the inside. Just an idea ❤️

  13. If you do a screen door, make sure it's metal screen. Our cats like to scratch our screen doors, and thankfully, they are metal screen material.

  14. Try scabiosa! They’re so productive and low maintenance and great cut flowers or if they go over the seed heads look great in arrangements too! I have Giga Silver and know a lot of people swear by Fama Blue and Fama White. They’re perennial so you can do them in the high tunnel or your cottage garden. I think there’s annual types too?

  15. I'm so freaking jealous. I grew up and my mom lives in Lexington. I will have to come visit you one day! I told my husband omg I just wanna be her friend. Love love love your beautiful garden. I'm gonna try small this year now that I have some land in tennessee!

  16. I read that the fire ants hate the mint family. My husband thinks the idea of mowing mint might smell good 😂 while running the ants out.
