Hey all,

I was able to score an old Florian glass greenhouse off FB marketplace and wondering… how should I heat it? I’m in Michigan, zone 6A, and would like to keep citrus alive through the winter.

We have natural gas available, and I was originally wanting to do radiant heat. We’ll be re-building the greenhouse onto concrete pad. Greenhouse is 16×18.

Pic for tax. TIA!

I’d do heated floors if your doing concrete depends on budget

Iam kinda in the same boat wondering if a infra red heater would heat it.

I do something a little bit different to heat my plants during the winter.

Cash, burning it directly would be the simple solution. I kid, I would use heated floors with insulation under and curtain skirted around it. Also a natural gas forced air heater for cold snaps. Nice greenhouse 👍

Orientate it pointing south, put mirrored mylar blanket over the north facing side and consider adding some 50 gallon (220l) barrels full of water to passively absorb the sunlight first. Actively heating a single pane glasshouse will be rather expensive.
