[1] Eye candy: my collection of zz plants – regular, raven, zenzi – still looking for the variegated one with yellowish patches…

[2] Brain candy: analysis of grow light effectiveness (side note: if you’re going to get grow lights, you MUST get a light meter. Light is the one growth factor that your senses are EXTREMELY poor at estimating. And poorly estimating the foundational factor of plant life is a bad idea).

[3] Brain candy (level 2): to give you some context, 550 fc is equivalent to being right next to a large window, partially block by a building with partly clouded sky and no direct line of sight with the sun. Having a direct line of sight with the sun through a window would give you 3000-6000 fc. Outdoors, direct sun can be 10,000+ fc.

[4] Brain candy (level 3): spectral analysis reveals why natural light yields slightly more PPFD than LED light despite having the same “brightness” (measured in foot-candles) but the difference isn’t too far off.

Questions are welcomed on any of these candies!
